Vol. 214 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Irish Recipients of British Pensions.

32.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare whether any further progress has been made with regard to the introduction of reciprocal arrangements in order to enable increases in British retirement pension to be paid to persons resident in Ireland.

Further discussions are taking place this week between officers of my Department and officers of the British Ministry of Pensions and National Insurance on proposed reciprocal arrangements in regard to pensions. It is understood that the question of increases in British retirement pensions payable in this country will not be discussed at this stage.

Has the Minister any idea when it might be discussed?

As the Deputy is aware, there has been a change of Government there and the new Minister has not yet had an opportunity of studying the matter.
