Is the Minister aware that the first one, which was started in April of last year, has not yet been completed?

I would not say that I am quite aware of that but, knowing the difficulties that these schemes involve and the necessary hard work, on the part usually of one or two persons in the district, and the fact that it started only last April, it is not surprising that it is not yet finished.

Is the Minister aware that a contractor started last April and that is is by contract that most of the work is being done and, because of the fact that it was not supervised by various people, the job is still under completion?

Perhaps, if the Deputy has any inside information on this lack of supervision, in connection with which I might be of some assistance in solving the matter, he would let me have it?

The Deputy has already supplied more than adequate information to the Minister's Department and it has not helped at all.

I said to the Minister.

Would the Minister tell us whether there is any future for the promotion of group water schemes in Meath, in view of the hold-up that has occured there?

What hold-up?

In connection with the first one.

The Deputy, surely, does not expect the Minister or his Department to supervise schemes on which a contractor has been brought in? That is not what we are there to do. We are trying to help in every way we can but, surely, it is a little beyond the resources of my Department to supervise every little scheme that is going on in the country where a contractor is employed?

Would the Minister consider handing them over for supervision to the local authorities?

If any local authority can show by its performance that it is capable of doing better than has been done, I would be quite happy to do so.

Meath County Council can do that, I am sure.

I am sure.
