Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Purchases by Foreigners in Mayo.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will give details of the areas of land purchased by foreigners in the Erris area, County Mayo within the last few years; and if he will state in relation to each area (a) its valuation (b) the price paid for it and (c) when it was purchased.

Since 1st August, 1961, as recorded by the Land Commission under the procedure authorised by sections 33, 34 and 35 of the Finance Act, 1961, two properties in the Barony of Erris were purchased by non-nationals: 305 acres, with shooting and fishing rights over an extensive area—rateable valuation £24.18.0 on lands; £34.15.0 on buildings— purchased towards the end of 1961, and 5,455 acres—rateable valuation £40.15.0. on land; 10/- on buildings— purchased in May, 1964.

It is not the practice to give the information requested at (b) in the case of individual transactions.
