Vol. 214 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Telephone Applications.

35.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of applications for telephones in County Cavan; how many telephones were installed in 1964; how many telephones he hopes to have installed in 1965; and the years in which those applications were made.

The information requested in the first and second parts of the question is 165 and 105 respectively.

Service will be offered in the next few months to about half of the applicants on the present waiting list. It is not possible to forecast the number of further connections that will be made this year or which applications will be met, but it is expected that the number of installations in 1965 will be considerably in excess of last year's.

36.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of applicants for telephones in each of the Dublin postal areas Nos. 6 and 12; and when these applicants are likely to receive their telephones.

The numbers are approximately 220 and 120 respectively.

It is hoped to provide service for about three-quarters of these in the coming financial year. The position regarding the remainder will be reviewed later in the light of progress made with other work.
