Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Population of Dublin.

2.

asked the Taoiseach the population of Dublin in (a) 1930 and (b) 1964.

It is assumed that the figures which the Deputy requires relate to Dublin County Borough. Such population data are available only for Census of Population dates.

The populations of Dublin County Borough as returned at the 1926 and 1936 Censuses (those nearest to 1930) were:

(a) 316,693 in 1926 for the area of the County Borough as then constituted,

(b) 404,094 in 1926 for the area of the County Borough as constituted in 1936,

(c) 468,103 in 1936 for the area of the County Borough as then constituted.

The latest available figures are those from the Census of Population, 1961, which give a population of 537,448 for the 1961 area of the County Borough.
