asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state (1) how many Dublin Corporation tenants there were in (a) 1930 and (b) 1964; (2) a Dublin Corporation labourer's wages (a) in 1930 and (b) today; and (3) a clerical officer's wages in Dublin Corporation (a) in 1930 and (b) today.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to have it circulated with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:

1. Number of tenants

4,600 at 31st March, 1930

38,700 at 31st March, 1964

2. Labourer's Wages

59/- to 64/- per week

219/- to 239/- per week

3. Clerical Officer's Salary

£55×5—90×7.10 to £150 per annum plus cost of living bonus ranging from £44 at minimum to £94 13s. 0d. at maximum.

There are two salary scales;(a) £390×34—560×56—616 ×39—1,084×41—£1,125 per annum fully inclusive and applicable to officers appointed before 11/1/65 and

(b) £400×35—£1,000 per annum plus annual allowance of £125 payable to male officers on marriage. This scale applies to appointments after 11/1/65.
