I would refer the Deputy to the provisions of section 48 of the Local Government (Sanitary Services) Act, 1948, which empower sanitary authorities to provide facilities for games or other recreation or to contribute to the provision of land for games or recreation and to the provision of equipment, including buildings, for recreation purposes on such land.
These powers would appear to be adequate for the purpose the Deputies have in mind.
