Vol. 214 No. 8

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Naval Service Recruitment.

69.

asked the Minister for Defence if in view of the difficulty in recruiting personnel for the Naval Service he will consider inviting men from the ranks of the Army to volunteer for training and service in the naval ranks for limited periods.

A man serving in An tArm may, at any time during his service, apply to be transferred to An tSeirbhís Chabhlaigh and this fact is generally known to the members of An tArm. As all recruits of An tArm had the option of enlisting in An tSeirbhís Chabhlaigh it is not considered appropriate to invite them to transfer from the service of their choice on enlistment.
