Vol. 214 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Castletownbere Harbour.

4.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the latest position with regard to the development of the harbour at Castle-townbere, County Cork.

The strengthening of the existing timber pier, which is a necessary preliminary to the main work, has been completed. The extensive dredging work was commenced early in February and will be in progress for the next few months. The difficulty in acquiring certain foreshore areas is holding up commencement of the main works—the formation of new quays. Negotiations in regard to these areas are proceeding, and every effort is being made to bring them to a satisfactory conclusion.
