Vol. 214 No. 9

Committee on Finance. - Vote 21—Rates on Government Property.

I move:

That a supplementary sum not exceeding £20,000 be granted to defray the charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1965, for Rates and Contributions in lieu of Rates, etc., in respect of Government Property, and for Contributions towards Rates on Premises occupied by Representatives of External Governments.

This is due to underestimation of the amounts by which the rates would be increased during the year. The present Supplementary Estimate means we are adding four per cent to the rate of the year before.

What was the original Estimate in percentage terms?

I think it was four per cent in the original Estimate, and this is another 4½ per cent.

It is 8½ per cent.

Vote put and agreed to.
Progress reported; Committee to sit again.
