Vol. 214 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ninth Round Wage Increase.

13.

(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Finance the estimated annual cost of the ninth round twelve per cent wage increase in respect of (a) State employees and the number of persons so concerned; and (b) salary and wage earners in semi-State employment under the aegis of his Department and the number of persons so concerned.

(a) The estimated annual cost of the ninth round increase for some 59,000 State employees is £4.4 million. These figures comprise civil servants, Gardaí, members of the permanent Defence Force and civilian employees attached to the Defence Force.

(b) As the assembling of the information sought will take some time, I ask the Deputy to repeat this part of the question in, say, a week's time.
