asked the Minister for Transport and Power the number of licences issued to nonstatutory road transport operators in each of the last five years.

I assume the Deputy's question relates to both merchandise licences and passenger licences. The information requested is in the form of a tabular statement which I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to have circulated with the Official Report.

NOTE: The total of 25 Merchandise Licences included the following restricted licences: 18 for the distribution of newspapers; 2 for short term haulage of refrigerated meat containers; 2 for surface transport of air freight; 1 for haulage on Achill Island; 1 for haulage on Valentia Island and 1 Shipping Company licence.
