Vol. 214 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Westmeath School.

52.

asked the Minister for Education when the joint school for the Johnstown and Collinstown area, County Westmeath, will be completed; and if he will ensure that no avoidable delay will occur in view of the fact that school children in these areas have been suffering from lack of proper educational facilities for some time past.

I am unable to say at this stage when the new central school to replace Killough and Johnstown national schools will be completed.

The present position is that sketch plans for the new school have been prepared and that evidence of title to the school site is awaited.

I can assure the Deputy that, so far as my Department is concerned, no avoidable delay will occur in having the preliminary arrangements for the erection of this school completed.
