Vol. 214 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing Bill.

10.

asked the Minister for Local Government when the text of the new Housing Bill will be available; and if he proposes to raise the limit for supplementary housing grants and increase the maximum advance given under the Small Dwellings Acts.

The text of the Housing Bill will be circulated as soon as possible. I do not propose to make a statement in advance of the Bill in regard to amendment of particular provisions of the existing law such as the income limit of eligibility for supplementary new house grants. On the question of an increase in the maximum house-purchase loan that may be made by local authorities, I would refer the Deputy to my reply to his question on 10th February last on the subject.

Would the Minister say what he means by "as soon as possible". This phrase has been used over the past six months.

It means as early as the Minister is able to do it.

This year, next year or the year after?

I do not know.
