Vol. 214 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cost of Comprehensive Schools.

19.

asked the Minister for Education the total projected capital and other costs to the State and local authorities of the introduction and implementation of the comprehensive school proposals for the whole of the Republic.

Four areas have been selected for the establishment of comprehensive schools. A survey is being carried out in a large number of other areas to determine whether comprehensive schools would be viable in those areas. Until a decision has been reached with regard to the total number of schools to be established it would not be possible to furnish the information sought by the Deputy.
