Vol. 214 No. 11

Co-Operation with Northern Ireland in Field of Electricity. - Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 5 and 12, and in 12, Vote 42.

Has the Taoiseach yet had an opportunity of deciding when time will be given to Nos. 3 and 4 on the Order Paper?

No; I have had copies of these Bills as drafted but I have not yet had an opportunity of studying them.

Just to introduce them?

I have to decide on that when I have studied them. I should not think it would be very long. I shall let the Deputy know today.

On the order of business — this has been completely changed since it was discussed no later than this morning with the Chief Whip.

Posts and Telegraphs?

It was an entirely different programme which was communicated to me this morning by the Chief Whip. If it had been deemed expedient to change the arrangement made this morning, at the Chief Whip's urgent representation, I should have appreciated the courtesy if he had informed me of the proposed change before we came in here.

We were discussing tomorrow's business.

I understood it was other business which was due for today and that the Government wished to meet tomorrow for the purpose of dealing with the two Cork Bills.

And Social Welfare.

But you are not ordering Social Welfare today?

That is different from what I was informed.

The arrangement on the Order Paper is the programme that was discussed last night.

Possibly Deputy Dillon may have misunderstood. I was conferring with him about tomorrow's business. The question of whether we should sit at all tomorrow was somewhat in doubt last night.

Do you really mean that?
