Appointment of Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries.

It is necessary to make a formal statement to the Dáil arising from the proceedings last week. I have to state for the information of the Dáil,

(1) that, having informed the President of the fact that Dáil Éireann approved my nomination of Deputies to be members of the Government, the President, on the 21st April, 1965, appointed them accordingly;

(2) that, on the same date, I nominated Proinsias Mac Aogáin to be the Tánaiste;

(3) that, on the same date, I assigned the Departments of State to the members of the Government, as follows:—

The Department of External Affairs

Proinsias Mac Aogáin,

The Department of Transport and Power

Erskine Childers,

The Department of Finance

Seán Ó Loinsigh,

The Department of Local Government

Niall Bléine,

The Department of Social Welfare

Caoimhghín Ó Beoláin,

The Department of Lands and the Department of the Gaeltacht

Micheál Ó Móráin,

The Department of Defence

Micheál Hilliard,

The Department of Industry and Commerce

Pádraig Ó hIrighile,

The Department of Agriculture

Cathal Ó hEochaidh,

The Department of Justice

Brian Ó Luineacháin,

The Department of Posts and Telegraphs

Seosamh Ó Braonáin,

The Department of Health

Donnchadh Ó Máille

and

The Department of Education

Seoirse Ó Colla;

(4) that, on the same date, the Government appointed the following Deputies to be Parliamentary Secretaries, as follows:—

Parliamentary Secretary to the Taoiseach and to the Minister for Defence,

Seán Ó Flannagáin

Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Industry and Commerce,

Pádraig Ó Braonáin

Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Local Government,

Séamus Mac Giobúin

Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Finance,

Pádraig Ó Fachtna

Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for the Gaeltacht

and

Pádraig Ó Leathlobhair

Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Agriculture.
