Vol. 215 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Motor Assembly Industry.

12.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, in view of the serious disruption in employment and production in the motor assembly industry as a consequence of the dispute in Industrial Gases Limited, he will intervene in an endeavour to effect an early and satisfactory settlement.

I regret the continuance of this trade dispute which is having adverse effects on industries in various parts of the country.

As the Deputy is aware, there is well established machinery for the settlement of trade disputes. I am hopeful that the parties to this dispute can reach a settlement by making full use of that machinery.

In the circumstances, I do not propose to intervene in the dispute.
