Vol. 215 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price Stability.

13.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, having regard to the widespread hardship caused by the recent increase in the price of bread, he will now take steps to ensure stability in the prices of necessities.

As the Deputy is aware, the recently announced increase in the price of bread was conceded only after a long and searching Departmental examination of the position.

I shall continue to use my powers under the Prices Act, 1958, where necessary, in the interests of price stability and the investigation of price increases.
