Vol. 215 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Factory Buildings.

11.

andMr. Booth asked the Minister for Local Government whether it is a fact that there were factory buildings erected at Cornels-court on the main Bray road without detailed planning permission and without proper authorisation; and that they were ill-designed and unfinished and constitute an eyesore; and what action it is proposed to take to remedy the matter.

Planning permission was granted by Dublin County Council in September, 1961, for the erection of one factory on the site in question at Cornelscourt. This factory was, however, erected in a location other than that shown on the approved plans. Two other factories for which no prior planning permission was sought were later erected on the site. One of these is incomplete.

The developer applied to the planning authority in November, 1964, for permission to retain the two completed factories and to complete the unfinished one. The planning authority decided on 15th January, 1965, to grant permission for the retention of the two completed factories and to refuse permission for the uncompleted one. The developer has appealed to me against the refusal of permission for the third factory and local residents have lodged appeals against the decision of the planning authority to grant permission for the retention of the other two factories. These appeals are now under consideration.
