Vol. 215 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Insurance Compensation Fund.

5.

asked the Minister for Finance the action taken by him to date under the Insurance Act, 1964, including a statement of the moneys paid into the Insurance Compensation Fund; and whether all the steps which the Act required him to take in relation to that Fund are now complete.

A payment of £30,000 as provided for in section 4 of the Insurance Act, 1964 was made from the Exchequer to the Insurance Compensation Fund on 30th March, 1965. This is the only action required to be taken by the Minister for Finance under the Act.

Could the Minister say when the fund will be in a position to meet the commitments of those who have been the victims of the collapse of the company?

I cannot answer that. As the Deputy knows, the matter is in the hands of the court and the liquidator.
