Vol. 215 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kildare Letterbox.

33.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that a letterbox at Maddenstown, County Kildare has recently been closed by the postal authorities; and that the local residents are now put to inconvenience and hardship because the nearest letterbox is at Brownstown which is one and a half miles away; and if he will take steps to have the letterbox at Maddenstown re-opened.

The letterbox in question was removed as the use being made of it was not sufficient to justify its retention. As there is another letterbox in the area within half a mile I am satisfied that no hardship has resulted and that there is no need to restore the box.
