Vol. 215 No. 13

Written Answer. - Drainage of County Dublin River.

31.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the amount of grants already provided and used for drainage of Ballough River, near Corduff, Lusk, County Dublin; and if he will take steps to have the drainage work completed.

Grants totalling £2,300 were made to the Dublin County Council by the Department of Local Government under the Local Authorities (Works) Act, 1949, for drainage works on the Ballough River. The Commissioners of Public Works could deal with the drainage of the river only by way of a scheme under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945, for the Bally-boghill catchment area in which it lies. That catchment has been noted for consideration in due course in the Intermediate Rivers Drainage Programme, but I cannot say when it may be reached in that programme.
