Vol. 215 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cost of Housebuilding Materials.

17.

(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Local Government if he can state in respect of a modern fully serviced house of average price, say £3,000, his estimate of the cost of (a) imported materials and (b) native materials required in building such a house.

I am not in a position to give any reliable estimate of the cost of imported and native materials used in the building of the type of house mentioned. Generally the bulk of the materials used in grant houses would be of Irish origin in view of the regulations which provide that as far as possible materials and appliances manufactured or produced in this country must be used.
