Vol. 215 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wages of Drainage Workers.

8.

asked the Minister for Finance the rate of wages being paid to all types of employees on the arterial drainage schemes at a recent date, together with the average amount of bonus paid to each grade at a similar date; if he will give particulars of the schemes on which no bonus is paid; and the reason why the bonus is not being paid on those schemes.

The answer to the first part of the Deputy's question is in the form of a tabular statement which with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, will be circulated with the Official Report. Incentive bonus is not being paid on the Killimor and the Deel Catchment Drainage Schemes or on the Shannon and Swilly Embankment Schemes. The introduction of the bonus system on these schemes has had to be deferred because of the difficulty of recruiting engineering staff. I hope, however, that an extension of the system will be possible during the present year.
