Vol. 216 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ferrybank (Wexford) Development Scheme.

14.

asked the Minister for Local Government when his Department will be in a position to clear the plans for the tourist development scheme at Ferrybank, Wexford.

Detailed plans for portion of the scheme, which were submitted by the local authority last January, cannot be cleared until certain technical information and an up-to-date estimate of cost, requested on 29th April, have been submitted to my Department.

Can the Minister indicate the nature of the technical information which he says he needs?

I am afraid not offhand. It is rather technical.

Was there any question of coast erosion in it?

There was, yes.

Has that been cleared?

I think that was cleared, at least to the degree that about a year ago, I think, we heard from the corporation to the effect that they had then passed a resolution under the Coast Protection Act which would have removed it from their immediate sphere and brought it into the grants scheme which would be administered by the Office of Public Works. That, obviously, is not the only technical matter.

The question of erosion has not been cleared entirely yet?

I am not sure that it has but I could give the Deputy more definite detailed information as to what is holding it.

Let us say "the Deputies". It is Deputy Kennedy's question. This is worthwhile development but I think the Minister will appreciate that it has been going on for too long,

Too long, I quite agree.
