Vol. 216 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Cork Quarry.

17.

Mr. Barrett

asked the Minister for Local Government the date upon which Cork Corporation made proposals to his Department for the acquisition by them of a quarry on the Ballyhooley Road, Cork, which has been rendered unsightly and a nuisance by the dumping of rubbish thereon; and if he will give details of the steps taken by his Department in regard to such proposals.

The original submission to the Department in September, 1962, was found to be legally defective. Accordingly it was necessary for the corporation to recommence proceedings and these were received in February, 1963. My decision refusing consent, on legal grounds, to the proposed compulsory acquisition of the site was conveyed to the local authority on 24th May, 1965.
