Vol. 216 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Hairdressing Schools.

37.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if any steps have been taken to prevent certain people setting up hairdressing schools and charging as much as 100 gns. for a six months' course when in spite of their training the pupils are not qualified to obtain employment as hairdressers.

Attendance at schools of hairdressing is not employment by way of apprenticeship under the provisions of the Apprenticeship Act, 1959 and I have no function in relation to the training provided by such schools.
