Vol. 216 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Meath Sheep Dipping Facilities.

38.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he proposes to give any grants to Meath County Council for the purpose of providing sheep dipping facilities under the compulsory sheep dipping order.

County councils are eligible for a subsidy from my Department of 50 per cent of the cost of the provision of public sheep dipping baths in areas where they are needed.

Grants are also available under the Farm Buildings Scheme in respect of the provision by farmers of private sheep dipping baths and handling facilities.

Could the Parliamentary Secretary tell us what contribution his Department will make towards the payment of inspectors?

The grants are in relation to the provision of the baths. The question of grants towards the cost of inspectors is a different matter, of which I would require notice.

Could the Parliamentary Secretary tell us will they be employees of the county council or the county committee of agriculture?

That is surely a separate matter.
