asked the Minister for Education what new schools it is proposed to build in South-West Cork; what schools in the area are to be reconstructed or repaired; and when he expects the work to be completed in each case.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to circulate for inclusion in the Official Report a statement giving the information requested by the Deputy.

Following is the statement:

NATIONAL SCHOOLS.

New Schools

Present Position

(a) KnockskaghSt. Mary's, DunmanwayDrinagh Boys and GirlsGlandore/Reenogrenna

These schools are in course of erection. It is anticipated that these projects will be completed within six months approximately.

(b) UrhanClonakilty ConventDerrycloughRossmoreInchiclough

Grants have been sanctioned for the erection of these schools. Contracts have not yet been placed.

(c) Ardagh BoysBaltimoreRosscarbery ConventCastletownCorronKilgariffeBallygurteen

A site has been offered. Office of Public Works have been asked to prepare sketch plans if site is suitable.

(d) DerrinacahanaEyeriesLislevaneCourtmacsherryDerryconneryBallinakillaButlerstownGlengarriff

Managers have been requested to obtain sites.

It is not possible to say at this stage when the work at (b), (c) and (d) will be completed.

Renovations and Improvements.

A scheme of improvements is being carried out. It is anticipated that these works will be completed within two months.

VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS.

A four room extension to Macroom vocational school has been approved in principle. The project is at a preliminary stage of planning.
