Vol. 216 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Transfer of State Companies.

6.

Mr. O'Leary

asked the Minister for Finance whether the policy advocated by his predecessor in office to transfer certain State companies to private enterprise is to be continued; what companies are so intended for transferring; and whether he proposes to introduce any special legislation for this purpose.

There has been no change in the position as set out in the reply to a Dáil question from Deputy McQuillan on 10th February, 1965.

In the event of a decision to dispose of any part of the State's shareholding in a particular company, new legislation would be necessary only if existing legislation relating to the company was inadequate to enable the State to dispose of the shares.

In other words, there is no change contemplated?
