Vol. 216 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Electricity Supply for Donegal Island.

13.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if the ESB propose to extend electricity supply to Owey Island, Kincasslagh, County Donegal.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that they have no plans at present to extend supply to Owey Island, as the cost of such an extension would be so expensive that special service charges so high as to be quite unacceptable would have to be quoted to any prospective consumers. Owey Island was included in the Bottled Gas Scheme for Gaeltacht Islands inaugurated by the Department of the Gaeltacht in 1958.
