Vol. 216 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal Customs Post.

26.

asked the Minister for Finance if, in order to facilitate the public, he will in conjunction with his counterpart in the British Government arrange for a customs post at Clady Bridge, County Donegal.

As the Deputy is aware, four new cross-border routes were recently approved after consultation with the British authorities and one of them, from Castlefin to Castlederg, serves an area near Clady Bridge. Furthermore, the approved crossing at Lifford is only four miles away.

I am satisfied that the facilities now provided in the district are adequate and that the expense of maintaining a third frontier post in this area would not be warranted.
