Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Amenity Sites.

38.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of applications for sites for halls and other civic amenities received by the Dublin Corporation from residents' associations, youth clubs and other philanthropic societies in the last five years; and the number of such applications which were granted.

I understand from Dublin Corporation that the number of such applications received in the last five years was 18 and the number granted was six.

Is the Minister in a position to state whether offers were made to the other 12 but were not taken up because the terms were such that they were beyond the capacity of the societies in question to pay?

I have a breakdown of the other 12 cases. In four of them, more details are awaited by the corporation. In a further four of them, terms or some other aspect are under consideration. The final four are just cases pending and which have not been dealt with one way or the other.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state in respect of the last five years the number of applications made to him by the Dublin Corporation for his consent to the sale or letting of land at less than the best obtainable price or rent to residents' associations, youth clubs and other philanthropic societies for halls and other civic amenities.

The statutory provisions for the disposal of land for less than the best price reasonably obtainable are contained in section 75 of the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1963 which came into operation on 1st October last. So far no application under the section has been received from Dublin Corporation.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state in respect of the last five years the number of applications made to him by the Dublin Corporation for consent to sell or lease land under section 11 of the Housing (Ireland) Act, 1919 to residents' associations, youth clubs and other philanthropic societies for halls and other civic amenities.

The number of such applications made in the past five years was four.
