Vol. 216 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bank Deposits.

13.

(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Finance the number of depositors returned to date to the Revenue Commissioners by commercial banks under the provisions of the Finance Act, 1964, which require that all depositors with deposit interest exceeding £15 be so returned.

There are no separate statistics relating to the commercial banks only. The total number of depositors returned by those banks, the Trustee Savings Banks and other financial concerns in returns for the years ended 5th April, 1963, and 5th April, 1964, is 54,000.

Statistics from returns for the year ended 5th April, 1965, are not yet available.
