Vol. 216 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Social Insurance.

27.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will indicate consequent on the raising from £800 to £1,250 of the upper ceiling in salary and wages for social insurance the position of employees who have exceeded the upper ceiling as from 11th January, 1964, but will be again insurable on 1st January, 1966.

Provision is included in the Social Welfare Bill introduced yesterday for the making of regulations to enable contributions to be credited to persons who again become insurable consequent on the raising of the income limit for compulsory insurance under the Social Welfare Acts to £1,200 so as to give them immediate cover for benefits, other than those to which they could have preserved title by becoming voluntary contributors.
