Vol. 216 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Industrial Growth Centres.

33.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will outline the policy of the Government regarding the selection of centres of industrial growth referred to in the Fourth Interim Report of the Committee on Industrial Organisation, which has been the subject of a special study by a group appointed by him, indicating what centres have been selected and the criteria as to population, location, services, etc. which have been used in selection of centres.

As already announced by my predecessor, the report of the committee which was appointed by him to examine further the recommendation of the Committee on Industrial Organisation for the establishment of development centres and the related question of industrial estates is being examined in my Department in consultation with other Departments concerned and will be published in due course, together with the Government's decision on the recommendations. The examination of the committee's report is still taking place and, pending completion of this examination, I am unable to indicate the Government's views in the matter.
