Vol. 216 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Educational Problems in Border Counties.

48.

asked the Minister for Education if he has any plan for meeting his opposite number in Northern Ireland with a view to discussing educational problems in Border Counties and, in particular, higher educational facilities for the Donegal region, having regard to the report of the Lockwood Committee and the present doubtful position as to the future of Magee College in Derry; and, if not, if he will indicate the type of regional development in the educational field which he proposes for Donegal.

I am satisfied that it would not be correct on my part to make any statement in relation to any possible meeting between the Minister for Education in Northern Ireland and myself.

Would the Minister explain why?

I thought it would be self evident.

Secrecy is going too far.
