Vol. 217 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Turkey Production.

4.

asked the Taoiseach (a) the number of turkeys over six months old, (b) the number of turkeys under six months old according to the June census of 1963, (c) their output value, (d) the estimated dead weight and numbers of turkeys exported in 1963, and (e) their estimated value.

The estimated number of turkeys over six months old in June, 1963 was 80,300; the corresponding figure for turkeys under six months old was 629,800. The estimated value of the output of turkeys in the year 1963 was £1,116,000. During that year exports of dead turkeys amounted to 8,068 cwt. at an f.o.b. value of £138,374; it is estimated that the number of turkeys involved was 72,600.

Are any steps being taken by the Minister's Department to improve the market or to increase the export orders for turkeys?

That is a separate question.

That is a separate question.

It is a question that is worth while considering today.
