Vol. 217 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Housing Sites.

17.

Mr. O'Leary

asked the Minister for Local Government why the derelict site in Benburb Street/Hendrick Street, Dublin has not been utilised for house building purposes; what sites in Arran Quay parish are intended for housing development; and if he will give their location.

I am informed by Dublin Corporation that the Benburb Street and Hendrick Street area is intended to be zoned for commercial and industrial use and that housing development is proposed on the following sites in the Arran Quay parish:—

Constitution Hill, 90 dwellings; Queen Street/Blackhall Parade, 90 dwellings; Friary Avenue/Smithfield, 30 dwellings.

Mr. O'Leary

Is the Minister in a position to say what time will be involved in the actual development?

Offhand, I cannot tell the Deputy.

Mr. O'Leary

Has development already begun in the Benburb Street Hendrick Street area?

I cannot say.

Mr. O'Leary

The Minister only knows it is down for zoning purposes?

That is what I was asked, but I can get the information for the Deputy.
