Vol. 218 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Special Employment Schemes Office.

5.

asked the Minister for Finance whether it is intended to abolish the Special Employment Schemes Office; and, if not, when it is proposed to appoint a director and renew the issue of application forms.

As I indicated last week, the question of the future of the Special Employment Schemes Office is under consideration and I am not yet in a position to make a statement on the matter.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary take into full consideration the circumstances obtaining in certain remote parts of the country where the Special Employment Schemes Office did excellent work, which work cannot be adequately replaced by any form of minor employment or rural improvement scheme?

Every relevant factor will be taken into consideration.
