Vol. 218 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Vocational School Appointments.

44.

asked the Minister for Education whether he has sanctioned the appointments to vocational schools made by the Mayo Vocational Education Committee on the 14th September 1965; and, if not, if he will state the reasons for the delay.

I have given sanction to County Mayo Vocational Education Committee for the appointment of 26 of the 31 teachers whose appointments were proposed by the committee at their meeting on 14th September last. The question of sanctioning two appointments as principals proposed by the committee at that meeting is at present under examination in my Department. The other three appointments proposed at that meeting were in excess of the allocation of teachers of woodwork and teachers of metalwork which had already been made and notified to the committee and accordingly there was no option but to refuse sanction for these three appointments.
