asked the Minister for Education when it is proposed to begin work on the national school at Ballymacahola, County Mayo, now that the site and water supply are ready.

My Department is carrying out a full investigation with a view to determining the future arrangements for the provision of suitable educational facilities for the children living in the Ballymacahola area, County Mayo. Pending the results of that investigation, further consideration in regard to the building of a new school has been postponed.

What is happening in the meantime with regard to the existing school? The children must continue without water or sanitary arrangements?

I can assure the Deputy that the length of time taken for these investigations is relatively quite short.

Water has been ready for the past two years.

The Deputy realises that there is a possibility—at this stage I will not put it any further because I have not got the report— that the school may not be built?

I should be very sorry to hear that.

I understand the Deputy's position but he heard what Deputy Dillon had to say and that is the——

I am not bound in the slightest by what anybody said. I am entitled to speak for my own constituency.
