asked the Minister for Health the amount collected by each health authority for a recent year, and the total for the State, in respect of (a) charges collected under section 15 of the Health Act, 1953 and (b) similar charges collected under the Mental Treatment Acts in the form of a reply of 19th July 1962.

The information regarding the charges under section 15 of the Health Act, 1953, as amended, at the maximum rate of 10/- a day is not at present available in my Department, and in regard to the charges under the Mental Treatment Acts, the information supplied to my Department by local authorities in the normal course does not show separately the charges to which the question relates. I am, however, circulating with the Official Report a statement showing the total amounts collected by each health authority for the year ended 31st March, 1965 in respect of charges for institutional services under section 15 of the Health Act, 1953 as amended, and if the Deputy will repeat the question in about three weeks, I will supply the full information which he requires.
