The total amount of applications for loans in respect of approved projects at present before my Department and at various stages of consideration is approximately £5.3 million.

(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Local Government the total amount of loans at present awaiting borrowing sanction for projects which have reached a stage of final approval in respect of (a) Tipperary (South Riding) County Council, (b) Cashel Urban Council, (c) Tipperary Urban Council, (d) Clonmel Corporation, and (e) Carrig Urban Council.
The amounts of loan applications in respect of approved projects before my Department and at various stages of consideration are: (a) £1,106,100; (b) £22,300; (c) nil; (d) £11,200; and (e) £116,000.

(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state in respect of Cashel Urban Council the finally approved project or projects being held up pending sanction of loan; the date of final approval of such project or projects; and the amount of loan involved.

(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Local Government when loan applications in respect of the accepted and sanctioned tender for eight houses by Cashel Urban Council reached him; and if he is now prepared to sanction this loan so that the contract may be signed and work may begin.
With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 22 and 23 together. The only application by Cashel Urban District Council for approval to borrowing at present before my Department is in respect of a loan of £22,800 for financing the erection of eight houses at the Green, Cashel, which was received in my Department on 13th September. The application is being processed in the normal way. Approval to acceptance of a tender for the houses issued on 25th August last.
