Vol. 218 No. 8

Written Answers. - Irish Spelling and Grammer Changes.

60.

asked the Minister for Education if he will give, with reference to his reply of 27th October last, full details of all changes whether major or minor in relation to the official standard of Irish spelling or grammer since 1922.

The major changes were set forth in my reply of 27th October. The following are the minor changes in relation to the official standard of Irish spelling and grammer since 1922:

(1) A number of small amendments of the 1945 standard was published in 1947 in a booklet entitled "Litriú na Gaeilge: Lámhleabhar an Chaighdeán Oifigiúil".

(2) A new booklet was issued in 1958 entitled "Gramadach na Gaeilge agus Litriú na Gaeilge: An Caighdeán Oifigiúil". This incorporated, with some smaller amendments, the two booklets of 1947 and 1953.
