Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Civil Service Status Increases.

6.

asked the Minister for Finance the total cost to the State of the recent Civil Service status increases.

I would refer the Deputy to the answer I gave to Deputy Kyne on 21 July, 1965. The correction of disparities and anomalies in eighth round settlements which began with the finding of the Civil Service Arbitration Board in March, 1964 on the Post Office Clerks' claim which was "based primarily on the principle of fair comparison with rates of pay in operation in good comparable employment outside the Civil Service" is estimated to have cost about £4 million a year.
