Vol. 218 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Supplementary Housing Grants.

26.

asked the Minister for Local Government if, in view of the heavy impact on rates of supplementary housing grants particularly in western counties, he has any plans to subsidise this expenditure by local authorities.

Supplementary grants represent a contribution from the rates additional to the State grants. They are made at the discretion of housing authorities who are in a position to control their impact on rates. It is not proposed that any such expenditure should be subsidised from State funds.
