Vol. 218 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Market Research.

52.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, to ensure increased exports, he will arrange that market research in all aspects of industry will be carried out in Continental Europe by his Department on behalf of the Government.

A comprehensive series of investigations of the market prospects in Europe for a wide selection of Irish goods was carried out in 1961-62 by Córas Tráchtála, the statutory body set up to promote Irish exports. The results of these investigations were made available generally through the CIO reports.

Through its overseas offices, through its schemes of export market research grants and through its publications Córas Tráchtála is continuing to provide Irish exporters with a full market intelligence service. If there are any additional services which the Deputy thinks should be provided, I should be glad to pass on his suggestions to Córas Tráchtála.

Is that service available to any industrialist who asks for it?

Yes. Does the Deputy mean a person who wants to export?

Yes. It is not reserved for existing exporters?
