Vol. 219 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tax Yields in Limerick.

19.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of turnover tax collected from Limerick city and county during the year 1964-65; and the amount of income tax collected from the same area in the same financial year.

It would not be feasible to classify tax receipts by reference to the towns and counties in which liability arises. I regret, therefore, that I am unable to supply the information sought by the Deputy.

Could the computers in the Department of Posts and Telegraphs not be used for this purpose?

The computers would not help the situation wherein head-offices are situated outside Limerick of business conducted in Limerick.

They did not help the man who got the big telephone account.
